ABOUT US WHO WE SERVE

Babs Centre and Community Services offer its services and resources to individuals experiencing challenges in a number of areas in their lives. We cater to socially marginalized people who are:

·         Housed as well as those who are living in the streets
·         Men & Women with Mental and/or Physical Disability
·         Newcomers
·         Seniors
·         Single Parent

There is no geographic or social scope as to whom we serve. More specifically, however, we encourage involvement from who are experiencing the following:
·         Depression – We help those who are experiencing boredom by connecting them with the community and engaging them in social activities to help them produce of value. Individuals feeling emptiness, worthless, restless or even despair, we work to alleviate those feelings and help foster a state of mind that is open to making positive life changes.

·         Isolation – We welcome those who are feeling excluded or discriminated from social activities because of many different reasons such as religion, gender, creed, ethnicity, disability, social status or for any other reasons.

·         Difficulty maintaining housing – Our services are available to those who are experiencing difficulty in maintaining housing. We encourage those who are trapped in a cycle of “no home, therefore no job, therefore no home” to get out and motivate them towards building confidence and positive outlook. We also help those have always lived with other people and have never been responsible for daily living tasks.

·         Seeking help in life skills training – Our life skills workshops provide a social network for individuals to share and support each other. We offer individualized case work and more informal emotional support to individuals who find it hard to cope with everyday stresses and adverse events.

·         Seeking education – This varies from potential clients to involvement from the community. Individuals who are new to the community or country, or seeking information, they can find the resources and help they need in our centre.

We encourage community involvement through volunteer ventures and informational workshops about key social problems and their underlying issues to increase awareness.
